Go BackTHE VOOM BLOOMS

Circa 2005, across the Atlantic, a young band of dreamers from Loughborough, England has aspirations of having careers creating innovative original music. Days after their formation, they find a small economical studio through the Yellow Pages and proceed to record, mix and produce their own DIY (do it yourself) 2-song demo entitled “London Heads”. The first single sells out 1000 copies in one week getting the band extensive radio play and supporting such formidable Brit acts as The Paddingtons, Babyshambles and Boy Kill Boy. They meet their US manager (Brandi Vinyl) via email who then organizes for them to tour America. Airplay on Indie 103.1 secures a booking into Revolution.

The buzz surrounding the band has been both significant and steady. Recognized by respectively by Rolling Stone Magazine as “one of the best new bands” and “top 25 bands on MySpace”, in addition to, MTV’s prediction as “the band to watch in 2008”, The Voom Blooms are currently on their first USA tour with prominent west coast dates that will serve as a prelude to their much anticipated debut at the prestigious South By Southwest Music Conference (SXSW) in Austin, TX.

As reflected on disk, the group's music complete with edgy tracks, contagious hooks, and surprising turns – makes it virtually impossible to be motionless as you listen to their infectious brand of music. Live, this is completely magnified as it takes on a raw and tighter sound that engages and forces you to move …. even against your will. Overpowering your senses, that’s what rock n roll is all about.

Subsequent to their first US performance the night before at the legendary Viper Room in LA, The Voom Blooms (George Guilford - Guitars/Vocals, Thom Mackie - Drums, Craig Monk - Guitars/Microkorg, Andy Wells - Bass) commandeered the stage for “LIVE REVOLUTION INDIE 103.1 Night” at Revolution Lounge following NYC’s My Best Fiends’ meaningful opening set.

Adopting the adage of “letting the music do the talking”, the band delivered a powerful knockout punch as they unleashed an energetic barrage of refreshing pulsating gems from a diverse repertoire. From “Politics & Cigarettes” and “Anna” to “Thoughts of Rena” and “Nine Ships” each dazzling song was loaded with brilliant choruses and catchy-as-hell rhythms.

Visually entrancing throughout, guitarist Guilford poured out magical combinations of soaring, prolific and sometimes frenetic lead vocals that fused naturally with Monk’s stylistic guitar work and exemplary Microkorg keyboard synth-base layering. Add Wells’ wicked virtuoso bass-lines and Mackie’s syncopated rock solid beats and you’ve got a dynamic driven sound that was evident as they rocketed into “By the Seashore”, a quintessential 60’s inspired Carnaby Street mod vibe intro that evolves into ray-gun blasted psychedelic rave-up jam.

The Voom Blooms, showcasing their own brand of modern Brit post-punk sound, delivered an electrifying performance and on this given night … they were in-the-zone … masterfully and successfully taking their innate melodic spirit and lathering it into a careening froth of fierce and fiery panache.

Perhaps not fully cognizant of their relevance during this Las Vegas adventure, The Voom Blooms represent the pertinent justification of why The Beatles Revolution Lounge is a true, viable and important asset to the Vegas music scene.

Local music conscious fans and global visitors who have an insatiable appetite for hip underground culture and great live indie music need to hear hidden treasures on the brink like The Voom Blooms. As destiny will dictate its course, The Voom Blooms future success is virtually imminent and years from now we can all sit back and reminisce that we first saw them at The Beatles Revolution Lounge.
