Fishbone one night and the English Beat the next...Las Vegas is in the grip of a ska revival! (Well, a two-night ska revival anyway.)

Formed in 1978, the Beat (or the English Beat as they're known in North America, for legal reasons) were part of the big Two-Tone scene in early 1980s England, along with the Specials and Madness. Post-breakup, singers Ranking Roger and Dave Wakeling formed General Public, whose song "Tenderness" featured in at least one John Hughes movie. But the high point of the English Beat's soundtrack career, for our money, is the scene in Grosse Pointe Blanke where Jon Cusack fights the weird-looking Belgian dude in his old high school's hallway while "Mirror In The Bathroom" plays. Totally perfect.
